"The Middle" is a song recorded by Russian-German record producer Zedd, American singer Maren Morris and musical duo Grey. It was written by Jordan K. Johnson, Sarah Aarons, Zedd, Grey and The Monsters and the Strangerz, with production handled by the latter three. Released on 23 January 2018 via Interscope Records, it will serve as a soundtrack for Target's spring style marketing campaign.
"The Middle" is relatively sparse with cute, lively flourishes and a backbone beat crafted from what sounds like a car's turn-light blinkers and ticking clocks (but a lot cooler than that). It's almost as if Morris, fed up with a lover stuck in their tracks, literally pulls her car over and demands to be met halfway. It's got definite sonic similarities to Zedd's previous hit "Stay" with Alessia Cara, and that song climbed to no. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it stands to reason that "The Middle" has pretty good odds.

So pull me closer
Why don't you pull me close
Why don't you come on over
I can't just let you go
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh baby
Why don't you just meet me in the middle
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle
In the middle
Baby
Why don't you just meet me in the middle
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle
In the middle
